Snowcross action at Sudbury Downs this weekend

Enjoy two days of snowcross action at Sudbury Downs March 4 and March 5.

You can see some of the best snowmobile and UTV snowcross racers in the country in action this weekend at Sudbury Downs.

Sponsored by Algonquin Equipment and Ski-Doo, the Sudbury Pro Snowcross Races event will feature 22 racing classes from children through to adults and promises “fun for the whole family,” the press release states.

Competition classes will start with the kid’s division (4-10 years old) racing on miniature snowmobiles, and move through the classes from novice kids, Junior Boys & Girls, Trail Sport classes for first-time racers, and finally Sport and Pro classes. 

Kids and amateur racing starts at 9 a.m. on March 4 and March 5. Pro main event racing starts both days at 2 p.m. 

The press release states UTV side-x-side off-road vehicles race on Saturday after the snowmobile events are complete. 

Spectator admission tickets are available in advance online at Snowcross.com, or at the gate at the Sudbury Downs on race days. Gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

General admission tickets for youth and adults is $40 each day or $60 for the weekend. Kids 6-12 years of age and seniors are $20. 

Schedule of events

Saturday, March 4  

  • 9 a.m.: Spectator gates open
  • 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Racing begins: 120cc, 110cc Snow Bikes, Novice, Transition, Junior, Trail Sport 600, Pro/Am Classes. 
  • 1–1:20 p.m.: Pro practice for Pro, Pro-Lite, and Pro/Am Snow Bikes. 
  • 1:20–2 p.m.:  Track Groom & Lunch break
  • 2 p.m.: Pro Main Event begins
  • 2–5 p.m.: Pro intros, Pro, Pro-Lite, Sport 600 
    • Groom Track: Novice-1 200cc Final. 
    • Sport 600, Pro-Lite, Pro Moto #2  
    • Track Groom, Pro/Am Women Final 
    • Finals: Sport 600, Pro-Lite & Pro followed by podium awards.  
  • 5–6:30p.m.: Track Groom
    • UTV Racing. 

Sunday, March 5

  • 9 a.m.: Spectator Gates Open
  • 9 a.m.–1 p.m.: Racing begins: 120cc, 110cc SB, Novice, Transition, Junior, Trail Sport 600,   Pro/Am Classes. 
  • 1:20–2 p.m.: Track Groom & Lunch break. 
  • 2 p.m.: Pro Main Events start
  • 2–6 p.m.: Pro Intros, Pro, Pro-Lite, Sport 600, Moto No. 1  
    • Groom Track, Novice-2 200cc Final. 
    • Sport 600, Pro-Lite, Pro Moto #2  
    • Track Groom, Pro/Am Women Final. 
    • Sport 600, Pro-Lite & Pro Finals followed by podium awards.
