Hello OHL fans! It's time for another heap of
news and updates. Let's start with some training camp news from
around the league.

Lively's Andrew Desjardins, who had been
invited out to attend the Los Angeles Kings training camp,
didn't make it there. Desjardins' appendix flared up and had to
be removed in a Los Angeles hospital. An unfortunate incident
for the never-say-die forward, but I'm confident this will not
be the last NHL camp Desjardins gets invited to.
Desjardins was cleared to skate this
week.
Speaking of Desjardins, he impressed the
brass at the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds camp before he headed
off to his ill-fated journey to LA, and they're expecting big
things from him this season.
"Andrew was our best player the first three
or four days of our camp before he left for LA," said
Greyhounds' GM Dave Torrie. "He's a kid that will take another
big step forward this year. We have high expectations for him.
Andrew scored 17 even-strength goals for us as an 18 year old,
and we want him to take it to the next level."
Despite his best efforts, Sudbury's Jesse
Graham was unable to crack the Kingston Frontenacs line up.
Kingston had acquired Graham in an attempt to bolster their
scoring power. Graham was outstanding during scrimmages and
practices, but wasn't able to connect on a regular basis in
exhibition games. Graham will now suit up for the Sudbury
Northern Junior Wolves.
Sudbury's Kyle May, who played for the
Manitoulin Wild last season in the NOJHL, has nailed down the
third goalie spot with the Owen Sound Attack. May forged a
record of 5-15 with the Wild, and will start the season as the
number one goalie with the Attack's farm team, the Owen Sound
Greys.
A local boy is hanging tough in his
respective OHL camp. Dowling's Yves Bastien has made an
impression with the Kitchener Rangers' brass and is making a
strong case to become a regular this season. Bastien has
already scored two goals in two pre-season games, and added
another goal in a shoot-out against Brampton.
In other OHL news, the league added former
NHL linesman Ray Scapinello to the fold. Scapinello will join
the league's team of officiating supervisors. Scapinello spent
33 seasons in the NHL, working 2,500 regular season games and
426 playoff games.
Your local weekly dose of OHL action occurs
tonight as the Sudbury Wolves square off against the Greyhounds
in an exhibition match. Game time at the Sudbury Arena is 7:30
pm. The Wolves then hit the road for their final exhibition
game against those same Greyhounds. Game time in the Sault is 7
pm.
