The Sudbury Five has announced that Dexter Williams Jr. will be returning to the court in the upcoming season, alongside the latest addition to the growing roster, Jelane Pryce.

Dexter Williams Jr. was part of the Sudbury Five's original roster in 2018, where he averaged six points and four rebounds per game.

The 26-year-old forward was born in Jacksonville, Florida and attended Montana-Western University before moving to Sudbury.

“The Dexter Williams of the world don’t always get the credit they deserve because they do all the dirty work on the court,” said Logan Stutz, head coach of the Sudbury Five in a press release.

“They hustle, they rebound, they play defence. Dexter does all that and is a great teammate."

“This will be my second year as a pro, and I am happy it’s all been with the five," said Williams Jr.

"I have put in a lot of work during the off-season and I am very excited, and you should be as well. Let’s have a special year. I’m looking forward to working our way to bring Sudbury a title!”

Twenty-seven-year-old Pryce, on the other hand, was born in Innisfil and attended the University of Winnipeg. The 6-8 forward is the sixth-ranked Canada FIBA 3x3 and is a member of Canada’s second-best 3x3 team.

He most recently played for the Saskatchewan Rattlers as part of the Canadian Elite Basketball League, where he averaged five points, four rebounds, and one block per game.

“(Pryce) can play multiple positions, plays defence very well, and he won a championship in Canada," said Stutz.

"However, one of the coolest things for Sudbury is that he is a Northern Ontario player and he’s a perfect fit for us all around."

“I can’t wait to play for the Five in the same area code I played high school in!” said Pryce. “It’s like it was meant to be, it going to be a fun year!”

The Five kick-off their pre-season Nov. 22 at the Sudbury Community Arena, against the Moncton Magic.
