The Sudbury Five announced Wednesday that Tyrrel Tate has signed with the basketball team.

Described as a skilled shooter and smooth finisher, Tate, 26, spent two seasons with the NBLC’s Moncton Magic (2015-2017). After which he joined the NBA G-League playing for the Texas Legends and Canton Charge last year.

Tate is a 6-5 guard, born in Boise, Idaho and played for Fayetteville State University (North Carolina) before joining the Idaho Stampede in 2014.

“Tyrrel is going to be a great addition to what we are trying to accomplish this year, he is a hard-working dual citizen, that is very versatile, he shoots the ball well, and can guard many positions. I’m excited to get to work with him soon,” said Five general manager and head coach Logan Stutz.

Reached from competition in Malaysia Tate had this to say about joining The Five, “I’m really excited about being with the Sudbury Five and rejoining the NBLC. After spending last year in the NBA G-league I have grown so much as a person and a player. Coach Stutz is great to work with and I think it’s the perfect situation for me. Go Five!”

The Sudbury Five will begin their inaugural season at the Sudbury Arena on Nov. 22. The Franchise recently announced the signing of Marcus Lewis, Kadeem Green and George Serresse. Last month, the Sudbury Five launched their inaugural home season featuring twenty exciting home games taking place at the Sudbury Arena starting in November.

The organization has announced that individual tickets will official go on sale on Oct. 22, exactly one month before the historic first game tip off, Nov. 22.

That leaves fans just three weeks to ensure they have the best seats in the house by ordering season ticket memberships right now! Memberships can be purchased in person at the Sudbury Arena, by phone at 705-815-5555 or on the team’s website www.thefive.ca.
