The Sudbury Five basketball team made it two wins against the Oakland County Pharoahs Sunday during their opening weekend.

On Saturday, the Five netted 122 points to the Pharoahs’ 96 at the Sudbury Community Arena. It was a closer affair during the Sunday game, also played at home, with the Five scoring 125 points to the Pharoahs’ 119.

Speaking after the game, head coach Logan Stutz said it usually takes about two weeks for a team to gel. “I’m just glad we could hold on and get two wins,” he said.

Guard Jaylen Bland said the Five had only had a week of training camp as of the weekend’s games.

He said there were “some things we could have cleaned up and been better at for sure, but overall, I think we picked it up when we needed to, and I was happy about that.”

He also gave credit to the Pharoahs. “They played really well tonight,” Bland said.

The Five’s next game is on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they play the Windsor Express at home.
