Everyone is taking advantage of the great golfing weather these days.

At the latest stop on the Sudbury Junior Golf Tour this past Sunday at Pine Grove Golf Club, Lea Lemieux maintained her dominance in the U-13 division while Griffin Jones broke through in a big way in the U-16 bracket.

Firing a sizzling round of 75, Lemieux was easily the class of the field in the younger age bracket, winning her second consecutive event on the Tour, to go along with a second place finish in the season opener.

The older classification provided a much closer race as Jones (80) edged Eli Deng (82) by just two shots, with Ben Hickey still within striking distance at 86.

The victory at Pine Grove allowed Jones to leap frog into second place in the divisional Tour standings, his three event total of 170 leaving him 40 points back of Joseph Colasimone.

The next event will take place at the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club on Sunday, July 28, beginning at 1 p.m. - following are the top five finishers in both divisions at Pine Grove, along with updated Tour standings for the top five:

Just a little earlier this month, Lea Lemieux was taking her show on the road, capturing top spot at the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) Linkster Mid-Season Championship at the Knollwood Golf Club in Ancaster.

Her two round score of 159 (79+80) was enough for Lemieux to carve out a very comfortable victory over Sophia Xu (Richmond Hill) and Shelby Hardwick (Aurora), with both girls tied for second place at 173.

In total, the event drew a dozen competitors in the Peewee Girls division. And finally, still with female golfers, the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club is hosting their Ladies Invitational on July 9, with some of the top local women's talent on hand for the single round challenge.
