Sudbury rinks shine at U18 curling championships

Horgan and Brunton rinks both bring home the gold

It was a clean sweep for Sudbury at the first-ever Canadian Under-18 Boys and Girls Curling Championships.

The championships were held in Moncton, N.B. and Sudbury's Jacob Horgan and Kira Brunton won their respective gold medal matches on April 22.

Two Collège Notre-Dame students contributed to the success of team Northern Ontario with Shane Robinson, a grade 11 student at CND, and Nicholas Bissonnette, a grade 12 student at CND coming come with the gold. 

Kira Brunton and her team of third Kate Sherry, second Sydnie Stinson, and lead Jessica Leonard defeated team New Brunswick in the finals on the girls' side.

The Jacob Horgan rink was rounded out with third Max Cull, second Nicholas Bissonnette, and lead Shane Robinson grabbed a 4-2 win over team New Brunswick in the gold medal game.
