Sudbury Wolves' player impresses at Under-17 tournament

Sudbury Wolves rookie forward Ryan McDonough has had an impressive showing at the lights at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Lethbridge, Alberta, playing for Team Ontario.

Sudbury Wolves rookie forward Ryan McDonough has had an impressive showing at the lights at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Lethbridge, Alberta, playing for Team Ontario.

McDonough, who just turned 17 on Sunday, has scored four goals and 10 points in five games.

McDonough is tied for the overall scoring lead with Jonathan Toews from Team Western.

McDonough and Team Ontario managed a 3-1 record in round robin play, but fell 9-1 to the powerful Team Pacific last night in a semi final match up.

Team Ontario and McDonough will play Team Atlantic for the bronze medal today at 3 pm.

The World Under-17 Hockey Challenge features teams from several provinces and areas in Canada, the United States, Germany, Finland, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

McDonough has nine goals and 26 points in 35 games with the Wolves so far this season.
