Sudbury Wolves Sports and Entertainment (SWSE) will host a media conference and reveal of the name and the brand for Sudbury’s first professional basketball team on May 8.

The team will begin play as part of the eighth National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) season in November.

On Tuesday May 8 at 11 a.m., the management team from SWSE will unveil the new team name, the brand concept and plans for coming weeks and months leading into the season.

Sudbury's only professional sports team will unveil its new look and feel at Red Fang on Durham Street.

“The project has evolved from concept three years ago, to reality last year and now into development with the launch next week,” said SWSE VP Marketing Andrew Dale, in a press release.

“Our team is growing under the leadership of Scott Lund and Bob Johnston, the league is getting stronger under the direction of (NBL deputy commissioner) Audley Stephenson and the vision that Dario proposed for our community’s sports and entertainment landscape is getting closer to reality. The basketball entertainment this team will bring to our city, to the north, will be a great attraction reflective of our history and more importantly our future.”
