So, Sudbury's professional basketball team will be known as ... wait for it ... the Sudbury Five? Yup, that's the name.
Cliff Skelliter of Launchpad Creative, explained the "Five" refers to the end of the Northern Ontario area code, 705, the nickel (the major ore mined in Sudbury) is five cents and five players are on the court at any given time on a basketball team.
Twitter has already reacted to the name, and the response, so far, isn't that enthusiastic.
Sigh...someone got paid a lot of money to come up with a terrible name. https://t.co/t0kdZEAkFT— Jeff Xilon (@JXilon) May 8, 2018

This feels like it came out as a high concept idea in a brainstorming session and nobody bothered to focus test it before they just ran with it.— Moose Stache (@MooseMustache) May 8, 2018
But 705 is Barrie too— Brayden Engel (@Engel_Brayden) May 8, 2018
The team will be playing in the National Basketball League of Canada starting in November.
