The Ontario Hockey League have released the 2018-19 regular season. The Sudbury Wolves will kick off their season on the road for three games with visits to Guelph (Sept. 21), Owen Sound (Sept. 22), and Barrie (Sept. 27).

Friday, Sept. 28 will mark the Wolves' home opener when they face off with the Oshawa Generals at 7:05 p.m. when home fans will get their first look at highly-touted first overall pick Quinton Byfield in regular season OHL action.

The 2018-19 Wolves schedule features 21 traditional Friday and Saturday night games, along with nine matinee match-ups and four weeknight games. The schedule will feature one new Thursday night game and two new Saturday afternoon games to go along with three Wednesday, three Saturday, and 18 Friday night games as well as seven Sunday afternoon games.

All night games will have the usual 7:05 p.m. puck drop. New this season, all seven Sunday afternoon games will begin at 3:05 p.m. and the two Saturday afternoon games are set for a 4:05 p.m. puck drop.

“We all took a hard look at improving things the past few months. In terms of schedule, given the changes in the building usage with the basketball coming and the experience we had last season with injuries, we think this schedule is a good start,” said Wolves head coach Cory Stillman.

“We worked on getting the best outcome possible for the players, so reducing the number of grueling three(games)-in-three(nights) adds up over the season and that allows us to be best prepared to compete all year. Starting on the road this year is an opportunity for us to play a couple of games together before our home opener.”

The countdown is now on for fans to catch first overall draft pick Quinton Byfield as he joins returning 2017-18 Top Rookie and Wolves leading scorer Blake Murray, along with overage forwards Drake and Darian Pilon returning to lead the Wolves.

“This off-season has been an exercise to review and prepare for a number of new and exciting promotions and experiences next year,” said Andrew Dale, VP Marketing and Development.

“The fan experience is incredibly important to us and we are working to make it the best experience possible. While change and new is the theme, there are some traditions we want to bring back like the Teddy Bear Toss and the Superhero Game theme nights. We encouraged by the optimism fans have when we are talking to season ticket holders and sponsors alike.”
