Jessica Busch and Dylan Green are this week's
Sudbury and District Secondary School's Athletic Association's
Athletes of the Week.
Jessica, 14, is a Grade 9 student at Lockerby
Composite School. She excels in junior basketball and midget
cross-country running.
In the past week, Jessica finished in second
place at the Sudbury cross-country running championship. Her
efforts helped her team win the overall city crown.
Jessica continued her strong performance at
the recent Northern Ontario Secondary School's Athletics
(NOSSA) Championships, where she finished 10th overall.
On top of tearing up the trails of Northern
Ontario, Jessica also plays point guard for the Lockerby
Vikings junior girls' basketball team. She helped the team to
four consecutive wins during league and exhibition play.
Dylan, a Grade 9 student at St. Benedict
Catholic School, is a standout on the junior boys' volleyball
squad.
In his first year with the team, Dylan has
demonstrated great leadership skills, both on and off the
court.
He's a solid student athlete, who is well
respected for his drive, hard work and dedication.
Dylan is an all-around player.
Along with being a model student athlete,
Dylan also plays centre for the Walden Blue Devils bantam
hockey club.
When he's done competing for the volleyball
squad, Dylan will play on the Bears' junior boys' basketball
team.
