Craig Tyson and Cori Fournier are the high
school Athletes of the Week.
Tyson, 18, is a Grade 12 student at St.
Charles College. He has played varsity football for the last
five years. He has been a member of two city
championship clubs. He was voted to the
all-star team as a fullback last season. Tyson made the move to
linebacker this year and, as a result, he now anchors the St.
Charles stingy defence.
Tyson is in the co-operative education
program. He's on placement at Greater Sudbury Police Services
where he acts as an Aboriginal liaison. Tyson
was also a member of the Sudbury Northerners
this past summer, and travelled to Europe to play
football.
Fournier, 16, is a Grade 11 student at Lively
District Secondary School. For the past three years, Fournier
has been a welcome addition to the basketball, volleyball,
hockey, soccer, golf and flag football teams.
She has played a huge role in helping both
the senior girls' basketball and flag football teams win their
games. Fournier has recorded over 30 points so far in four
basketball games. She also has a touchdown for the flag
football squad.
Fournier is expected to play a key role on
the senior girls' volleyball and hockey teams over the winter.
She is also the previous winner of the Junior Athlete of the
Year at the school.
