Track North athletes put on good show in Windsor

Track North athletes captured some hardware at the Ontario University (OUA) indoor track championships last week in Windsor.

Track North alumni, Carolyn Ehrhardt, competing for Western University, placed first in the long jump with a distance of 5.80 metres. She also won the triple jump with a leap of 12.50 metres.

Ross Proudfoot, racing for Guelph, placed fourth in the 1,500 metre with a time of 3:55.34, and fifth in the 3,000 metre with a time of 8:26.58. Both events were won by North Bay runner, Matt Walters, in 3:53.06 and 8:20.31 respectively.

Emma Tallman, racing for Western, placed fourth in the 1,000-metre run with a time of 2:51.58. She placed 10th in the 1,500 metre with a time of 4:42.66 and led off the 4x800-metre relay, helping the Western squad to a third place finish.

Guelph Rookie Brandon Shirk placed fifth in the 300 metre with a time of 35.40. Shirk also ran third leg on Guelph's fourth-place 4x200-metre relay team, and anchor on their silver-medal 4x400-metre team (the latter with a relay leg of 48.6).

Laurentian's Alicia Violin placed eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.97 metres and 13th in the long jump with a personal best leap of 5.14 metres.

Laurentian's Katie Wismer placed 12th in the 3,000 metre with a time of 10:30.85. She also placed 13th in the 1,500 metre with a personal best time of 4:47.93.

Zack Caverson, running for Laurier, placed 19th in the 1,000 metre with a personal best time of 2:46.72.

Other Laurentian athletes included Alyssa Bedard, who placed 13th in the 3,000 metre, with a personal best time of 10:31.30, Jackie Bray, who placed 18th with a jump of 4.59 metres, and Adrienne Wilson, who suffered an injury but placed 20th in the 1,500 metre with a time of 5:03.62.
