Despite outshooting their opponents 40-24, the Sudbury Wolves fell 7-5 to the Barrie Colts at Sadlon Arena on Dec. 13.

The Wolves' power play was also an issue in the game with the Pack going just one-for-five while Barrie did better than .500 with the man advantage, going four-for-seven on the power play.

The loss drops the Wolves' record to 9-15-3-0, while Barrie improved theirs to 13-9-3-2. The Pack is now sitting ninth in the OHL’s Eastern Conference and 19th overall. Meanwhile, Barrie is fourth in the Eastern Conference and 10th overall.

The Colts got on the board first on Tuesday night, when Beau Jelsma scored his 11th of the season on the power play with help from Jacob Frasca and Evan Vierling.

At 12:12 of the first, Barrie scored again, this time off the stick of Roenick Jodoin (assists, Jelsma and Frasca), to make it 2-0 for Barrie.

The Pack would get on the board a minute later when Landon McCallum scored his fourth of the season with help from Kocha Delic and André Anania.

Three minutes after that, the Wolves would knot it at 2-2 thanks to Jacob Holmes scoring his third of the season (assists, Nick DeGrazia and McCallum).

The Colts would retake the lead at 9:02 of the second on a goal from Ethan Cardwell, his 14th of the season, with help from Vierling.

Delic would tie it up for the Wolves three minutes later, scoring his fourth of the season with help from Alex Pharand.

That 3-3 tie would last about 40 seconds. Declan McDonnell would score for Barrie at 13:23 (assists, Jelsma and Frasca) to make it a 4-3 Colts game.

At 16:10, Barrie would do it again, this time on the power play. Jelsma scored his second of the game (and 12th of the season), assisted by Vieling and Connor Punnett, to make it 5-3 for Barrie.

With 90 seconds to go in the second, Sudbury would score its only power-play goal of the game. Assisted by Quentin Musty and Matthew Mania, Pharand would score his 13th of the season to make 5-4 for Barrie.

Sudbury would tie it up again at 12:12 of the third when Musty and Anania teamed up to feed Nathan Villeneuve who scored his fourth of the season to knot the game at five apiece.

Four minutes later, Barrie would score the game-winner on the power play when Punnett, fed by Evan Vierling and Beau Akey, scored his seventh of the season and Barrie was up 6-5.

The Colts would add an insurance marker (and another power-play goal) with about a minute to go in the game. Vierling scored his 11th of the season, assisted by Akey and Punnett and the game would end 7-5.

The Pack is back in action at home on Friday, Dec. 16 against the Mississauga Steelheads. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Then, the Wolves head to Oshawa to take on the Generals at Tribute Communities Centre.
