United Way Centraide North East Ontario (UWCNEO) and SW Sports and Entertainment took to the court at Monday night’s Sudbury Five game to formally recognize the seven recipient organizations who have been selected to receive funding grants through the United Five electronic 50/50 raffle.
“The partnership between the Sudbury Five and United Way helps to ensure that accessible, community-based programs are available to leverage opportunities for children and youth in our community,” said Michael Cullen, executive director with UWCNEO.
“In December, we announced this new partnership with a shared desire to do even more to ensure that youth and youth mental health-related programs and services are available, locally. Thanks to the generosity of the Five fans, and the hard work of our volunteers, we are here today celebrating this investment.”
United Five funded programs are:
- CNIB: Sports and Recreation Camp
- N'Swakamok Native Friendship Centre: Youth-Focused National Aboriginal Day
- Sudbury District Restorative Justice: Community Justice Conferencing Training for Volunteers
- Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation: Camp Program
- Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association: Youth Event
- YES Theatre: YES Summer Festival
- YMCA: Youth Ninja Warrior Space
“Our Sudbury Five team is committed to helping children and youth succeed. The opportunities made possible as a result of the United Five partnership, and the generosity of the fans, will help our young people now, and in years to come. These initiatives are important because they help to develop skills, explore interests and provide opportunities to participate in health and wellness activities,’” said Dario Zulich, owner and governor of The Sudbury FIVE.
