Student athletes at Collège Boréal found a little something to smile about earlier this month, proving that in the grand scheme of things, it is not just the taste of victory that can provide a final reward for those who put themselves to the test.

The Collège Boréal Vipères mixed soccer team may not have hit the win column, but that didn’t stop them from returning north with the “Fairplay Award” at the recent Humber Co-Ed Indoor Soccer Extramural Tournament.

Boréal dropped an 8-1 decision to Humber North in their opening game, falling by that same margin in game two, this time at the hands of the University of Toronto Mississauga crew.

The 6th/7th matchup proved much more entertaining as George Brown College edged the Vipères 4-3, as Humber Lakeshore went on to secure gold, followed by Sheridan and UTSC.

The roster for the Collège Boréal team included Jessica Gaignard, Crépin Foke, Natasha Donnelly, John Eric Nimery Baa, Jean-Yves Koffi, Fiston Issa, Philippe Mian, Michael Rueter, Veronique Paquette, Mélodie Dubuc, Yohan Elie and coaches Clarence Potvin and Chelsea Mateev.
