The Laurentian Voyaguers men's hockey team opened up their 2019-20 season with a split against Queen's University over the weekend.

The men dropped their home opener on Friday night by a score of 4-1, but bounced back on Saturday afternoon at Countryside Arena, knocking off the Gaels by the same 4-1 score.

Laurentian's lady Voyageurs hit the ice in exhibition play on Saturday and fell by a score of 5-3.

Both the men's and women's soccer teams played a pair of home games over the weekend, with the two squads managing just a single point between them over the course of four games.

The women were defeated 2-0 by the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, while the men were beaten 3-1 by U of T.

The ladies managed to secure a point in a 2-2 draw with Ryerson on Sunday, but the men wound up on the wrong side of a 3-0 scoreline.

On the hardcourt, Laurentian's ladies posted a pair of wins at the Nipissing tournament over the weekend, knocking off St. Clair College 73-43, and beating Durham College by a score of 67-52.

The men played an exhibition game against Algoma University on Friday and cruised to a 107-77 win.

Over to the ball diamond, the Voyageurs dropped a pair of games against the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday by scores of 8-3 and 7-0.

The rough ride for the Laurentian lacrosse team continued as the men were on the wrong side of two lopsided scorelines, losing 20-2 to Guelph on Saturday and 23-2 against the Brock Badgers on Sunday. The team is still in search of their first win.
