The Laurentian Voyageurs took their three-game win streak to the Ravens Nest to take on the No. 1 ranked Carleton Ravens.
However, the Ravens showed why they are the best, snapping the Voyageurs win streak with a 90-66 victory, according to a news release.
Fresh off yet another upset, this time at the mercy of the Ottawa Gee Gees, the Voyageurs took their win streak to the Ravens nest to face the mighty Carleton Ravens. This is undoubtedly the toughest game of the season.
“We need to be firing on all cylinders to beat the Ravens,” said head coach Shawn Swords.
Unfortunately, the Voyageurs were unable to pull through.
The Ravens took flight from the very beginning, with the physical presence and athletic ability on display from the opening tipoff.
By the end of the first quarter, the Ravens had already amassed an 11-point lead at 28 points.
The second quarter was a bit tighter, with a defensive battle taking place.
The Voyageurs fought hard and matched the Ravens shot for shot, entering the half time interval trailing by 12 points.
The second half brought about more efficient shooting from the Ravens, who shot 52 per cent on the night.
Laurentian's offensive production came mainly from Alex Ratte and Manny Pasquale, who scored 25 and 20 points respectively.
George Serresse had a strong game under the basket, picking up seven rebounds and 14 points to further build upon his stand-out season thus far.
Despite this play from the Voyageurs, the Ravens continued to expand their lead. By the time the final whistle sounded, they had stretched their lead to 24 points, and walked away with a 90-66 victory.
This loss cut Laurentian's season record to 8-7; however, the Voyageurs have overcome some of the league's toughest opposition and now look to build upon their record in the closing stages of the season.
Also, after a strong weekend of play, Alex Ratte cemented himself in sole position of fifth place in the OUA scoring leaderboard, and cut the gap on the top four with his average of 19.3 points per game.
The Voyageurs now head to Toronto to face the Varsity Blues, as well as the Ryerson Rams.
