Laurentian Voyageurs' Héléna Lamoureux has been named the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women's basketball Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-Rookie Team.

Lamoureux was born and raised in Laval, Quebec, and is studying Criminologie (Criminology) at Laurentian University. Where in her first year wearing blue and gold, she led her team and finished fifth in OUA scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game.

In her first weekend on the OUA court, she averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists per game - for the first of six double-doubles that season.

Despite missing six games at the end of November due to an injury, the rising-star still led the conference's first-year players in total points (269), points per game (16.8), free throws (89), and rebound average (8.9).

She is the first Voyageur get a nod from the OUA All-Rookie Team since Kayla Deschatelets was recognized in 2016-17, as well as the university's first OUA Rookie of the Year since Katie Goggins earned the title in 2006-07.

Lamoureux is now in the running for U SPORTS Rookie of the Year and a potential national All-Rookie selection, which will be announced March 4, at the U SPORTS Championships in Ottawa.
