For the first time in nine years, the Laurentian Voyageurs basketball team will play host to an OUA playoff game. This remarkable achievement was a direct result of the relentless form of the Voyageurs in the second half of the season, a press release stated. The Voyageurs closed out their regular season with an 83-74 victory over the Queen's Gaels Saturday night.

This victory sets up the home court clash with the Toronto Varsity Blues on Feb. 22 of February in the first round of the OUA playoffs.

In their previous encounters this season, honours have been split, with one win each for the Blue and Voyageurs. Each game was a high-scoring affair, with effective shooting from both teams.

The Voyageurs will be looking for a strong team performance all around, and will be looking for continued emphatic performances from CIS leading scorer Manny Pasquale, his brother Isiaih Pasqualeand Alex Ratte, whose offensive skills have shone throughout the season, and will be valuable assets against the Blues.

From a defensive standpoint, rebound control will be key for the Voyageurs. They will be looking for big performances from Shavaan Sheldon, Georges Serresse and Nelson Yengue, whose rebounding capabilities have been displayed as of late in the recent games that have helped lead Laurentian to the playoffs.

The game will be played at 8 p.m. at the Ben Avery Gymnasium. There will be free admission for all high school and elementary school students for the evening.

The Laurentian Lady Vees played their final two games of the season over the weekend, splitting their games against the RMC Paladins (61-43) and Queen's Gaels (58-64) . The double-header marked the conclusion to a tough season for the Vees, a press release stated.
