The Sudbury Five clinched a playoff spot in their inaugural season in the NBL Canada thanks to a pair of home wins last week over the Moncton Magic and London Lightning.

The Five sit atop the league's Central Division and can clinch home court for at least the first two rounds of the playoffs with a win over the KW Titans in their final regular season game on Wednesday night.

Sudbury will need a little help from the Windsor Express in that matter, as the London Lightning still have two games remaining against Windsor and could potentially finish tied with the Five for top spot.

At the very least, the Five are still in control of their own fate, and can lock up a tie for first with a win on Wednesday.

"Locking up first place is a priority for us right now, we want to be able to play in our city in front of our fans," said head coach Logan Stutz.

With their wins last week, the Five guaranteed themselves a winning record in their first season and currently sit at 21-18 with just one game remaining on the schedule. Coach Stutz says he's proud of the season his team has put together, especially against the league's top teams.

"At the end of the day the goal was to put a competitive team on the floor and to make the playoffs," said Stutz. "Our guys have really been able to rise to the occasion in big games, we went 6-0 on the season against teams that were currently in first place when we played them. Every game from here out there's going to be pressure."

The first round of the playoffs will be a best-of-five series, and the Five may have to wait right up until the conclusion of the regular season to find out who their first round opponents will be.

The Windsor Express are fighting for their playoff lives, trailing the KW Titans by just a single win. If the Five finish first they will match up with either Windsor or KW. If the team finishes second they will square off with the third place St. John's Edge.

"Our home fans have been great this year," said Stutz. "We want to be playing as many games here in Sudbury as we can."
