The Walden Mountain Bike Club’s WolfPak Racing/Inception Cyclery Team really knows how to start off a racing season.

In Woodnewton, Ont., on May 1 for the year’s first Ontario Cup race, the team kicked off the 2016 Scott Ontario Cup XC Racing season by continuing its winning ways.

When the race ended, two WolfPak members were standing on the podium — continuing a winning tradition that has seen a WolfPak member on the podium at every Ontario Cup event since the team’s inception in 2010.

On May 1, Paul Guenette took top spot in the Senior Expert 19-29 male field in 1:35:27. Alex Anstice also showed good early season form by coming in second in the Master Expert 30-39 Male field in 1:36:35.

In the Senior Elite 19+ male race, newcomer Dave Kalver posted a 12th place result in 1:56:59, with Eddie Skala taking 19th with a time of 2:03:52.

The WolfPak next heads to the Highlands Nordic in Duntroon, Ont., for Ontario Cup #2 on May 15.
