The Sudbury Wolves announced Tuesday that their first round draft pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, David Goyette, has committed to the hockey club.

“We are very excited and happy to have David signed with the Sudbury Wolves,” said Wolves VP and General Manager Rob Papineau.

“He is an elite talent and an outstanding young man. Our fans will really enjoy watching David play the game as he has tremendous offensive instincts and sees and thinks the game at a very high level. To be able to draft a player like David in the 11th spot is rare, and we are really excited to see him in a Wolves jersey."

Goyette was selected 11th overall from the South Kent Selects Academy 15’s where he notched 49 goals and added 104 assists for 153 points in 65 games to lead his team in scoring.

“I can’t wait to start my OHL Hockey career with the Wolves,” said Goyette. “I will do everything in my power, along with my new teammates to bring the Memorial Cup to Sudbury. I am looking forward to the start of the new season with Sudbury and to meet my new teammates.”
 
The 5-10, 162 lb. forward is a native of Hawkesbury, ON and just recently turned 16 in late March.
