The Sudbury Wolves have picked up 19-year-old forward Connor Crisp and 20-year-old defenceman Jimmy Mcdowell from the Erie Otters.

In return, the team sent 19-year-old defenceman Cory Genovese and Kingston’s third-round draft pick in 2015, along with a conditional fourth-round draft selection in 2016.

At 6-4” and 225 pounds, Crisp is a former second-round selection of the Otters and was recently drafted in the third round of the 2013 NHL draft by the Montreal Canadiens. The big power forward scored 22 goals last season and added 14 assists for 36 points and 139 minutes in penalties.

Power play maestro Mcdowell recorded 14 goals last season, including eight on the power play. His four OHL seasons have been spent with the Oshawa Generals and the Otters. A native of Dimondale, Michigan, he had 19 assists and 33 points last season, finishing seventh among OHL defencemen with the most goals in the league.

“We are very excited to add two veteran offensive players to our line-up,” said Wolves’ GM Blaine Smith. “Crisp is a fearless power forward that competes hard and battles in front of the opposition’s net. Connor has a pro shot and we are counting on him to contribute offensively and physically for us this season.

“Jimmy McDowell is an offensive defenceman that will help create offence for us from the blueline.”

Smith said the Wolves are building a “mobile blueline” to help create more offence this season.

McDowell is expected to make his debut with the Wolves this Friday night when the Kitchener Rangers come to town. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at Sudbury Arena.
