The Sudbury Wolves have acquired overage defenceman Aiden Jamieson from the London Knights in exchange for a conditional 15th round draft pick in 2017.

The 6-2, 187 lb Cameron, Ontario native was an assistant captain with the London Knights last season.

In 45 regular season games, Jamieson notched 10 points and had a plus/minus rating of plus 14.

The defenceman was a key component of the Ontario Hockey League and Memorial Cup Champion London Knights last season, and will bring a great deal of leadership to the Wolves this season.

He played three seasons with the London Knights, playing in a total of 137 regular season games, 31 OHL playoff games and six Memorial Cup games.

“We are extremely excited to be adding Aiden Jamieson to our blueline,” said Sudbury Wolves General Manager Barclay Branch.

“It is exciting to add Aiden’s wealth of experience, his championship pedigree, and his strong leadership to our young line-up heading into next season.”

“It’s bittersweet for me,” said Jamieson. “I am going to miss my friends in London, but I am really excited for the opportunity in Sudbury and coming to play for the Wolves this season.”

When asked to describe his style of play, he described himself as a puck-moving defenceman who takes care of his own end first and helps out wherever he can.

Jamieson’s announcement comes on the heels of the Wolves’ CHL Import selection of 16-year-old centreman Jachym Kondelik from the Czech Republic who was the leading scorer and captain of his Junior team in the Czech Republic.

The Wolves have added some more significant size and leadership within a 24-hour period.
