The Sudbury Wolves look to close out the regular season with a bang, earning their third straight win Saturday, with a 3-1 victory over the Peterborough Petes.

Earning their 43rd victory of the regular season, Saturday's match tied the club record for the second most wins in franchise history. Wolves scorers were Adam Ruzicka with two and Drake Pilon with one, supported by a near-perfect performance by Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who saved 33 of the 34 shots on goal.

The match got off to a slow start, with neither team able to slip one past their opposing netminder. The scoreboard remained empty moving into second, despite Peterborough outshooting the pack 18-8 in the period.

Just over a minute into second, Wolves' Ruzicka opened up scoring for Sudbury with a beautiful wrap-around goal past Hunter Jones. Five minutes later, Pilon notched his tenth of the season on a wrist shot from the high slot, bringing the Wolves lead to two.

This sudden lead brought tension to the ice, sparking Petes' Cole Fraser and Wolves' Pilon to drop their gloves in the final minutes of the period. The Wolves maintained their lead of two heading into the final frame.

In the midst of a number of pushing matches between the two teams, Petes' Liam Kirk managed to beat Luukkonen, cutting Sudbury's lead by one in the final frame. In the match's final minutes, Petes' Hunter Jones got the nod to head to the bench for an extra attacker. Ruzicka wasted no time tossing the puck into the empty net, securing a 3-1 final for the Sudbury Wolves.

The Wolves finish off the regular season in Oshawa tonight, facing off the against the Generals at 6:05 p.m.
