The Sudbury Wolves almost let one slip away on Thursday night, but pulled out the 3-2 win in overtime over the North Bay Battalion.

The Wolves started fast in their first game back from the holiday break, with Liam Dunda netting his fifth goal of the season just 1:41 into the first period.

Shane Bulitka would double the lead at the 12:30 mark of the first and the Wolves carried a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

North Bay would not go quietly into the night, as Brett McKenzie scored his 17th of the season midway through the second period to bring the home side to within one.

The score would remain that way until six minutes into the third period, when Brad Chenier scored to level things at 2-2.

The teams would trade chances with neither finding the net in regulation, sending the game into overtime.

Wolves defenceman Aiden Jamieson picked a great time to score his first goal with the team, as he found the back of the net 2:53 into OT period, lifting the Wolves to a much-needed win over a divisional opponent.

North Bay grabbed one point for the OT loss, and the Wolves took two points, bringing them to within just a single point of the Central Division-leading Battalion.

Sudbury will hop on the team bus and head back to the Nickel City for a home date with the Guelph Storm Friday night.
