The Sudbury Wolves have announced the launch of a 22-session elite skills and development program starting in October.

For players born between 2007 and 2009, the training program begins Oct. 10 and runs until March 27, 2023. Instruction will be provided by Wolves’ assistant coaches Rick Dorval and Gary Ricciardi.

“Learn from our highly trained and experienced coaching staff,” the team said in a news release.

Dorval was the head coach and GM of the Hawkesbury Hawks Jr. A team of the Central Canada Hockey League for eight years prior to joining the Wolves. He led his teams through 400 wins and is a two-time CCHL Coach of the Year. Ricciardi has significant work experience in player development, the team said, and has been “instrumental” in helping build key hockey programs in both Chicago and St. Louis.

Ricciardi is also an owner of Core Hockey Elite Training Camps and has helped elite junior and professional players.

The camps will focus on improving player skills and understand the patterns of the game.

“I have witnessed first-hand Rick’s ability to both teach and develop players with his positive, winning  approach and attention to detail,” said Pierre Dorion, GM of the Ottawa Senators, in the release.

Each session of the program will include one hour of elite skill training that will take place from 3-4 p.m. at Sudbury Arena. Only 20 player spots and 2 goaltender spots are available. For prices and information, click here.
