Playoff hockey will return to Sudbury this spring as the Sudbury Wolves officially clinched a playoff spot on Thursday night when the Barrie Colts fell by a 6-2 final to the Saginaw Spirit.

The Wolves' opponent, dates, and times are still to be determined as the Wolves continue to battle for playoff positioning and home ice advantage.

The team will hit the ice at the Sudbury Arena Friday night to host the Barrie Colts at 7:05 p.m. The Wolves picked up three of a possible four points on the road last weekend and will be looking to continue to build upon it as every game counts, and all points matter as the Wolves look to improve their playoff position.

The Barrie Colts currently sit ninth in the Eastern Conference playoff race, just three points back of the eighth place Peterborough Petes.

The Colts are led by top 2019 NHL draft eligible prospect Ryan Suzuki. In 53 games, Suzuki has 19 goals and 40 points for 59 points. They are also led up front by Buffalo Sabres prospect Matej Pekar and on the back-end by St. Louis Blues prospect Tyler Tucker.

The Colts are backstopped by 17-year-old rookie goaltender Jet Greaves. Greaves was named CHL Goaltender of the Week Feb. 3, and on the season has posted a .914 SV% and a 3.21 GAA.

Friday’s game is sponsored by Gateway Casino who will be on-hand with prize packages for the first 2000 fans. One lucky fan will have the chance to win $2500 cash in the second intermission shoot-out challenge.
The Northeastern Ontario Trades Building Council will also join the Wolves for a special pre-game presentation to the Elgin Street Mission.
