The Sudbury Wolves will be looking to take a
huge bite out of their competition as they host the Plymouth
Whalers and the Windsor Spitfires this weekend.
The Wolves are currently third in the Central
Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference with a record of
19-15-3-2, good for 43 points.
The Wolves have been red-hot over the last 10
games, forging an 8-2 record.
The Whalers are first in the West Division
with a record of 16-14-4-3, good for 39 points.
Plymouth has a 6-4 record in their last 10
games.
The leading scorer for the Whalers is John
Mitchell with 14 goals and 39 points in 32 games.
The Wolves' leading scorer is Ben
Pouliot, who has 19 goals and 41 points in 38 games.
The Wolves will also welcome back rookie Ryan
McDonough, who has missed three games while he attended the
2005 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Lethbridge,
Alberta.
McDonough played for Team Ontario. The squad
made it to the bronze medal game, but lost 5-4 to Team
Atlantic.
McDonough finished the tournament tied for
second in scoring with five goals and 11 points in six
games.
On Sunday, the Wolves host the Spitfires.
Game time is 2 pm.
The last time these two squads hooked up, it
was a fight-filled affair that resulted in numerous players
being suspended, and a two-game suspension to head coach Mike
Foligno.
The Spitfires are currently third in the West
Division with a record of 13-19-4-3, good for 33 points.
Windsor is falling fast in the standings.
They have only won one game in their last 10.
The top scorer for Windsor is Cal
O'Reilly, who has 12 goals and 44 points in 39 games.
The Spitfires also feature local product
Corey McGillis, whom they selected seventh overall in the 2004
OHL Priority Draft.
McGillis has struggled to find his place in
Windsor. He has just two assists in 20 games.
