The Eastern Conference’s second place team, the Barrie Colts, proved to have the luck of the Irish on Saturday night as the Colts claimed victory over the Wolves with a 10-3 victory in the second of a home and home match-up.

Goal scorers for the Wolves included Blake Murray with two goals, and Dawson Baker. Blake Murray was a highlight in the game as Murray scored two power play markers.

After a chippy end to the game Friday, the Wolves were short-benched as Drake Pilon, Macauley Carson, and Emmett Serensits all served game misconducts from fights towards the end of the previous night’s game.

The Colts had another strong start to the game, as they scored four unanswered goals in the opening frame from Zachary Magwood with two, Lucas Chiodo, and Jaden Peca short-handed. With Nathan Allensen on a four-minute penalty for checking from behind, Murray scored two goals to end the period to cut the lead in half. Murray’s goals came as his 20th and 21st of the season, putting him fifth in rookie scoring in the OHL.

After the Colts fourth goals, Marshall Frappier relieved David Bowen in net. The Colts repeated the first period as they netted four goals to extend their lead to 8-2. Goal scorers from the Colts included Ben Hawerchuk, Christopher Cameron, Justin Murray, and Andrei Svechnikov. The Wolves were held from the net as they were outshot 20-3 through the frame.

Baker scored just over a minute into the third period with his sixth of the season, from Darian Pilon and Cole Candella. The Colts kept things rolling in the third period as Magwood beat Frappier for a hat-trick, extending the Colts lead to 9-3. A goal from Joey Keane finalized the game with a 10-3 final.

The Sudbury Wolves will end the 2017-18 season tonight in Oshawa as they take on the Generals with a 6 p.m. start.
