Wolves lose to Steelheads in overtime

Friday’s final score was 4-3, and the Wolves are facing off against the IceDogs in Niagara tonight

Evan Konyen scored the Sudbury Wolves’ first goal of the night on Friday.

It took an overtime goal for the Sudbury Wolves to lose to the Mississauga Steelheads on their home turf on Friday night, with the visitors notching a final score of 4-3. 

Evan Konyen scored the team’s first goal, which proved his sixth of the season. Only 29 seconds later, David Goyette netted his fifth of the year. Landon McCallum gave the team the lead fewer than three minutes later, his fourth of the season.

Assists came from Etahn Larmand, Jack Thompson, Dominik Jendek, Andre Anania and Nolan Collins.

Mitchell Weeks put in what the Sudbury Wolves website describes as a “heroic effort between the pipes,” saving 41 of the 45 Steelheads shots on net.

“I just hope we can take away the confidence and we can continue that second period, even the third period we played pretty well, so if we can continue that into the games this weekend we should do pretty well for ourselves,” Anania said in a post-game interview posted on the Sudbury Wolves’ website.

The Wolves are now on the road ans slated to face off against the Niagara IceDogs.
