Wolves move away game broadcasts to FM dial

The Sudbury Wolves have announced a partnership with a new road game broadcast partner for the upcoming season. Away games broadcasts will be moving to the FM dial at K95.

The Sudbury Wolves have announced a partnership with a new road game broadcast partner for the upcoming season. Away games broadcasts will be moving to the FM dial at K95.5 FM, which has stations in Sudbury, North Bay, Elliot Lake, Manitoulin Island and is available to around 320,000 listeners.

“K95.5 FM allows us to have a stronger radio signal and clearer broadcast quality for our fans listening to our road games,” stated Wolves marketing director Curtis Hall.

Curtis Belcher, K95.5 FM's general manager explained the games will be “broadcast live from our KFM studios on Notre Dame Avenue using our new digital broadcasting console. For the first time in history, fans with RDS displays on their radios will not only be able to listen to the sounds of the game broadcast in full FM stereo, but will be able to read the current score and other special features right on their radio display."

The games will also be simulcast around the world on the Internet at www.kfmradio.ca. Wolves' fans will also be able to submit comments and questions live during the game to the commentators.

“This new interactive component will make the broadcast unique, and keep our fans right in the middle of all the action,” Belcher said.

Current Wolves' game announcer Stew Kernan will continue as the “voice of the Wolves.”

“Having the games on the radio, I think it's a gift to the community,” Kernan said. “Not everybody can get to the away games, because of where we are.”

The first road-game broadcast will take place on Sept. 26 when the Wolves travel to Belleville to take on the Bulls. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
