The Sudbury Wolves acquired overage defenceman Patrick Sanvido from the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for Sudbury’s 14th round draft pick in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection and sixth round draft pick in 2018.

Sanvido has been the Captain of the Windsor Spitfires for the last two and a half seasons and is expected to help bring leadership to the young Wolves squad.

The 6-6, 230 lb defenceman was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the seventh round of the 2014 NHL Draft. Sanvido can be described as a big physical stay-at-home defenceman.

“We are very excited to be adding Patrick to our hockey club,” said Sudbury Wolves General Manager Barclay Branch.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience, along with excellent leadership qualities, and will most certainly provide a strong presence for us both on the ice and in our dressing room.”

Patrick is expected to arrive in Sudbury Wednesday evening and will suit up for the Wolves Thursday when they visit the North Bay Battalion.

Wolves fans will get their first glimpse of the newest member of the wolf pack on Friday night when he makes his debut at the Sudbury Arena at 7 p.m. when the Guelph Storm make their only stop in Sudbury this season.

Tickets are on sale now at the Sudbury Arena Box Office or online at greatersudbury.ca/tickets.
