The Sudbury Wolves were trounced on the road 7-2 Friday night as they took on the Kingston Frontenacs.
The Fronts went with Nolan Lalonde between the pipes while the Sudbury Wolves went with Nate Krawchuk as their starting goaltender on the road.
It was a long night for the Wolves in this one.
At exactly the 7:00 minute mark of the opening period, Kingston grabbed a 1-0 lead with a goal from Jacob Battaglia, his sixth goal of the season.
Just over two minutes later Kieron Walton scored his third goal of the season for the Wolves to tie the game up 1-1.
With 8:49 remaining in the first period, Emil Pieniniemi scored his second goal of the season to restore the Frontenacs’ lead at 2-1.
At the 12:31 mark of the first period, Matthew Soto scored his fifth goal of the season to increase Kingston’s lead to 3-1 after the first 20 minutes of play.
After Kingston’s third goal of the hockey game, Wolves’ Head Coach Scott Barney replaced goaltender Nate Krawchuk with Finn Marshall for the remainder of the game.
Under three minutes into the second period, the Wolves pulled in a goal with Hudson Chitaroni’s second goal of the season, a power play goal, making the score 3-2 for Kingston.
With 10:53 left to play in the middle frame, Ethan Miedema scored his fourth goal of the season to put the Frontenacs ahead by a score of 4-2 with one period left to play.
Kingston kept pouring it on in the third period, with Cedrick Guindon scoring his third goal of the season, while Kingston was short handed, making the game 5-2 for Kingston.
With 9:33 remaining in the game and with the Frontenacs on the power play, Battaglia scored his second goal of the game, and seventh of the season, to make the score 6-2 for the Fronts.
Tuomas Uronen wrapped up the scoring with his first goal of the season at the 17:37 mark to wrap up a 7-2 win for the Kingston Frontenacs over the Sudbury Wolves.
With the loss, the Sudbury Wolves now hold a record of three wins and three losses on the season.
The Sudbury Wolves head to the nation’s capital for an afternoon game against the Ottawa 67’s on Sunday, Oct. 13, with a scheduled start time of 2 p.m.
