It was just what the doctor ordered.

The Sudbury Wolves, in desperate need to start playing consistent hockey, picked up two wins over the weekend.

The Wolves hosted the Peterborough Petes on Friday night at the Sudbury Arena in front of 4,163 fans, and managed a 3-1 victory.

Mike Mills, Thomas Sample, and Rafal Martynowski provided all the offence the Wolves needed. They scored all three goals in the final period, after trailing the Petes 1-0 after 40 minutes of play.

For Sample, it was his first ever career OHL goal.

Patrick Ehelechner was solid in-between the pipes, stopping 31 of 32 shots fired his way.

Jamie Tardif had the only goal for the Petes.

The Wolves went 0-2 on the power play, and also killed off all three power plays awarded to the Petes.

On Sunday, the Wolves hit the road for afternoon tilt against the Brampton Battalion.

The Wolves, despite some penalty trouble, skated away with a 4-2 win.

Bobby Chaumont again lead the way on the road scoring two goals. Chaumont has scored most of his 11 goals this season away from the friendly confines of the Sudbury Arena.

Alex Eaton and Mills added the other goals for the Wolves.

Ehelechner was strong in net again for the Wolves, making 26 saves.

The Wolves' penalty killing unit had a stern workout, thwarting all eight of the Battalion's chances with the extra man.

The Wolves power play was a non-factor, going 0-4.

The wins have pushed the Wolves' record to 8-6-2-1. They now stand third in the Central Division with 19 points.

It will be a busy week for the Wolves as they take to the ice for three home games.

On Tuesday night, the Wolves renew their Bell Challenge Cup series against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at the Sudbury Arena.

Game time is 7:30 pm.

The Greyhounds lead the series with one win. The other game ended in a 3-3 draw.

The Wolves then host last season's Eastern Conference Champions, Mississauga IceDogs, on Friday night.

Game time is 7:30 pm.

The Wolves continue their hectic home stand Sunday afternoon with a match against the Toronto St. Michael's Majors.

Game time is 2 pm.
