BY SCOTT HADDOW The Sudbury Spartans know how to answer the door when a challenge is knocking. Last week, in a tight battle against Quinte Limestone, the defence answered the challenge resoundingly by playing hard until the final buzzer.

BY SCOTT HADDOW With the playoffs a forgone conclusion, the Sudbury Canadians are playing for pride as the 2006 season winds down. The team is still searching for its first win of the campaign, after dropping the first eight games.

Sudbury Spartans tailback Dan Leduc is Northern Life's Athlete of the Week. The speedy player enjoyed a tremendous game last Saturday, helping the Spartans dump the Quinte Limestone Panthers 18-14.

Cedar Green, Pine Grove, Stonehill golf clubs and the Timberwolf Practice Academy are offering free golf to kids under the age of 16, who are accompanied by an adult, during Take a Kid Golfing Week, which runs from July 3 to 9.

The third Amythest summer curling camp will be taking place Sunday July 2 to 7 at Countryside Arena.
