In the 50s, fastball was a dominant sport in the Sudbury area. One of the best pitchers ever to throw heat from the mound was Capreol's Ezio Bevilacqua. The tall and husky hurler was known for his determination, competitive spirit and endurance.

BY SCOTT HADDOW It was reality check time for the young players looking to break into the OHL at the Sudbury Wolves' 2006 rookie orientation camp. The camp occurred this past weekend at the Tom Davies Community Arena in Lively.

Tickets are now on sale for the 37th annual House of Kin Sports Celebrity Dinner. The event will be held at the Caruso Club on June 7, starting at 6 pm. Tickets are $35 each and are available at the House of Kin, located at 1889 Regent St.

Over the weekend of May 19, a select group of 14 Major Atom boys from the Nickel District Minor Hockey League (NDMHL) attended the Lakeshore Thunder International AA Hockey Tournament in Toronto.

Members of Benoit's Martial Arts Xtreme and competitive team recently competed at the WKA Canadian Championships in Gatineau on May 26 to 28.
