Spark Employment Services can help you with funding for your organization’s training needs through the Canada-Ontario Job Grant. Along with providing a key source of funding to employers, the agreement also presents an opportunity for the province to engage more effectively with employers to support Ontarians in obtaining the skills required to fill and succeed in available jobs.

What is the COJG?

“The Canada-Ontario Job Grant offers a wide range of skills training services to employers and individuals,” says Dhwani Bhatia, Engagement Specialist/Job Developer at Spark Employment Services, a leading employment and education service provider in Sudbury. “These services are designed to support workforce development and promote greater employer involvement in training through cost-sharing arrangements to train individuals. Through employer-led skills training, the grant also provides individuals with the skills necessary to maintain employment and advance in their careers.”

How can the Spark Team Help?

  • By providing personalized consultation to employers about the Canada-Ontario Job Grant
  • By reviewing and refining skills training needs to help secure the grant
  • By guiding and supporting employers and their employees through the application process

Who benefits from the COJG?

The COJG is available to small, medium and large businesses with a plan to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees.

How to apply

Eligible employers interested offering training to their employees can apply for the COJG. To apply, employers must complete an online COJG Employer/Consortium Application.

“Given the complexity and financial implications of large-scale grant applications, employers must allow a minimum of 12 business days for their application to be processed after the submission of their online COJG Application,” says Teresa Kwakwa-Danso, Engagement Specialist/Job Developer at Spark. “In the case where training commences before applications are received and approved such applications will not be considered under the COJG program.”
