Have you heard the buzz in Sudbury?

Bizzzy Bea’s is planning a Country and Western Gala, and everyone is invited!

“Bizzzy Bea’s was founded in 2020 by Chantelle Dupuis,” explained board member Robert Junge. “She saw the need for food for the houseless, and also the food excess and waste that was available through local grocery stores, cafes, and restaurants and thought, there should be a way to marry the two.”

Dupuis started out by picking up excess food herself and cooking it up into meals in her own kitchen, driving downtown and delivering the meals out in the houseless community. “The meals she was making, they were kind of a hodgepodge of leftovers, whipped into a tasty meal or soup or stew, and they reminded her of meals her grandmother used to serve,” chuckled Junge.

Soon, through a Facebook post, other donors and volunteers jumped on board and Dupuis decided to take the idea to the next level, eventually forming the non-profit Bizzzy Bea’s.

“She named it after her grandmother, whose meals she was remembering and emulating,” said Junge.

Today, Bizzzy Bea’s has the support of large grocery chains, many local businesses, and a team of over 40 volunteers, as well as a rented kitchen and other supports.

“But of course, as a non-profit, especially one in these times, serving the houseless, the need is always growing, and the need for financial support never lets up,” said Junge.

Hence, the Country and Western Gala fundraiser.

“We had our first gala fundraising event last year, it was a masquerade theme, and at the same venue, Natura Catering and Events. This year, we decided to switch up the theme and do Country and Western. Who in Sudbury doesn’t love getting dressed up in their finest plaid and cowboy duds and coming out to support a great cause?” said Junge.

The night will feature a silent auction, which features top-tier prizes and themed prize packs to fit any lifestyle; raffles, door prizes, small-bite food, dancing, and lots of fun and entertainment for all attendees.

“The fun gets going Saturday October 21 at 6 p.m. at Natura Catering and Events, 1351-D Kelly Lake Road, Unit 2, Sudbury,” said Junge. “Tickets are only $100 per person, and all proceeds go to feeding our city’s less fortunate.”
