After a long dark winter, Downtown Sudbury is ready to welcome the sun and heat of spring and summer, with a great lineup of events, May 23-25, in downtown Sudbury.
“May 23-25 is shaping up to be a very busy weekend in downtown Sudbury,” explained Downtown Sudbury BIA Executive Director Jeff MacIntyre. “First off, we have the huge community yard sale, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ninety tables will be set up on Larch St., between Elgin and Durham, and there will be something for everyone, as we have so many different vendors!”
Of course, many downtown shops and stores will be open for the community’s shopping pleasure as well, and the Sudbury Market at the Elm Place Mall will also be open, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. “The market will be offering lots of home grown and home-made products, including baked goods, crafts, and produce. It’s a wonderful way to shop locally!” said MacIntyre.
Most of the downtown patios will be open and ready for business all weekend long, so come on out and enjoy drinks and a meal to celebrate the beginning of patio season.
There will be lots of local entertainment all weekend long, as Knox Fest, a music festival featuring all local acts, takes over venues downtown, with ticketed shows at Knox Hall, The Refertorio, The Night Owl, and Books and Beans.
“Knox Fest is bringing lots of local entertainment downtown during the Yard Sale on Saturday,” explained MacIntyre. “It’s all free, so it will be a wonderful collaboration with our sale.”
Other free daytime shows Saturday include Nyama Nyama Sound, Lisa Marie, and Tess and Peter Balaz at The Ref.
Ticketed shows at Knox Hall on Friday night include The Cloves, Bad Actors, The Northern Memphis Revival, The Ape-ettes, and DJ Deux Bums. Saturday, Vice Mountain, 2V Unplugged, Harvey King, The Fauxcils, and DJ Davey Lahteenmaa take to the Knox Hall stage.
