Sudbury Performance Group (SPG) has entertainment for all ages this holiday season, starting with Disney’s Frozen Jr. for families and finishing with the annual New Year’s Eve Comedy Gala at the Trevi.

“Frozen Jr. is our annual children’s holiday musical production,” explained SPG President Mark Mannisto. “We have a cast of 30 talented youth performing this well-loved tale, and it is over the top!”

This production of Frozen includes all the well-loved characters from the Disney movie, and stays true to the movie and the Broadway production, explained Mannisto. “As well, there are five new songs that the audience will love!”

The youth in the performance grew up with Frozen, said Mannisto. “So, they know the story and music inside out and are knocking it out of the park with this show!”

Frozen Jr. runs ten straight shows from December 12 to December 20, at the Sudbury Secondary School Sheridan Auditorium. Showtime is 6:30 p.m. and the show ends at 8 p.m., “So the kids in the audience…and the show…can get home to bed! After all, the big guy in red is going to show up, so the kids need to get a good night’s sleep and watch their naughty and nice ratio!” chuckled Mannisto.

SPG is partnering with the City of Greater Sudbury and offering free tickets to the show, for families who take transit to get there. “We want to promote public transit and get kids used to taking it early in life, so it becomes second nature,” said Mannisto. “So, families can show us their bus transfers and they get in the show for free!”

The annual Comedy Gala at the Trevi is a different show, for a different audience. “This is our big New Year’s Eve Gala night,” explained Mannisto. “We have three amazing comedians, the Trevi does an incredible buffet, and we finish the night up with a DJ and dancing, culminating with complimentary sparkling wine and the ball drop at midnight!”

The three comedians for this year’s Gala are: Sumit Swami, Ronnie Edwards, and Kenny Robinson. “All three of these comedians are first-class,” enthused Mannisto. “Kenny Robinson is our headliner and he is absolutely hilarious, we are really excited to be bringing him back!”

Mannisto continued, “The Trevi does an outstanding buffet with antipasti, roast beef, chicken parm, and lots more food options. It’s fantastic value for the money and a really fun night out.”

He finished, “We hope you, the community will come out and support by buying tickets to these amazing events. And if you can’t do that, we hope you are willing and able to support the arts in our community by making a donation. We guarantee that 100% of your donations will go towards hiring our local musicians, including emerging artists. SPG values and grows the arts in our community, and it would be amazing to have more support to do that!”
