What drew you to a career in flooring?

"I have always been visual, and I enjoy creating atmospheres that are unique. I can tell you that the allure of flooring lies in its tangible impact on the spaces we inhabit.

Flooring is not just about aesthetics; it's about creating comfortable, functional, and visually appealing environments. The prospect of contributing to the design and functionality of spaces where people live, work, and play is undoubtedly intriguing. Additionally, the flooring industry offers opportunities for innovation and creativity, whether through the development of new materials, technologies, or design concepts."

What is your top tip for customers choosing flooring?

"My top tip for customers choosing flooring is to prioritize functionality and lifestyle needs alongside aesthetic preferences. Select flooring materials that can withstand the level of foot traffic and wear and tear expected in the space. For high traffic areas like entryways or kitchens, durable options such as porcelain tile, hardwood, or luxury vinyl may be ideal.

Consider the amount of maintenance and upkeep required for different flooring types. Think about your lifestyle and how the flooring will be used. Consideration for the long-term is key to choosing flooring. It should be well thought out and you should try to choose something that will pair well with any future changes you may do. Opting for lighter neutrals is always a great idea as they ideally pair well with virtually most tones and colours."

How do you see flooring evolving given today's trends and tech?

"With increasing environmental awareness, sustainable flooring options will continue to gain popularity.

Smart flooring, equipped with sensors and connectivity, will become more prevalent. This technology can monitor factors like temperature, moisture levels, and even foot traffic. It can be particularly useful in commercial spaces for optimizing maintenance and improving energy efficiency.

Modular flooring systems will become more common, allowing for easy installation, customization, and replacement.

Customizable options, such as digitally printed designs or personalized patterns, will enable individuals to express their creativity and style preferences. Aesthetic preferences will continue to evolve, influenced by factors like architecture, interior design, and cultural shifts. While timeless classics like hardwood and ceramic tile will endure, contemporary styles such as polished concrete and luxury vinyl planks will remain popular."

What do you enjoy the most about working at House of Broadloom?

"The atmosphere is laid back and coworkers make for an enjoyable day. I have never felt the looming dread of going to work so that speaks volumes. There are endless laughs and the respect is ample. Larissa and Gavin have created an environment where you can actually enjoy your workday."

What drew you to a career in flooring?

"The opportunity to use my creativity and to keep learning at a fast pace."

What is your top tip for customers choosing flooring?

"Talk to a professional and do your research"

How do you see flooring evolving given today's trends and tech?

"Because I have been in the industry for so many years, I have seen so many trends that have come full circle. Colours popular in the 1980s and 1990s have come back in recent years. For example, greys and now the earth tones are making a comeback.

I have a feeling future trends will be in the gloss levels of the floors. Today, everything is matte or low gloss; only time will tell! I look forward to anything new and exciting!"

What do you enjoy the most about working at House of Broadloom?

"The family environment, my fellow staff members, and loyal customers."
