Northern College is offering 13 Health Sciences and Emergency Services programs

Programs range from a bachelor’s degree in nursing to Personal Support Worker and Medical Laboratory Technician diplomas.

You may have heard it a million times over the past 12 months, but brace for it, we’re going to say it one more time because it hasn’t stopped ringing true:  what a strange time we find ourselves living in.

With each day, we mark another noteworthy moment in history, living in the midst of heroism and conflict, of fear and uncertainty as well as opportunity.

Through these trying times we’ve been made aware of so much that makes our communities and our country great, and we’ve also identified some areas that need some attention, chiefly what we’ve come to identify as frontline workers.

We’ve been bombarded by stories of bravery and sacrifice from Nurses, Paramedics, Police Officers and Fire Fighters this past year, and we’ve celebrated their willingness to do what others won’t.

So the question becomes, what are you willing to do?

Would you consider a career in one of these careers that needs so many more to help?

Northern College offers the highest quality health sciences and emergency services programs utilizing the latest in technology, treatment methodology and hands-on training that ensure that our grads are not only equipped with the skills they need in the field, but the mental and physical strength required to meet the growing needs of Canadians.

Northern College offers 13 Health Sciences and Emergency Services programs ranging from a bachelor’s degree in nursing to Personal Support Worker and Medical Laboratory Technician diplomas.

Students studying Police Foundations, Paramedic and Firefighter will find themselves in a cutting edge, specially constructed advanced facility designed to offer them the most real-life approach to education, rooted in hands-on training delivered alongside active, operational emergency services providers who are in the same building.

The Integrated Emergency Services Complex is home to physical and digital training facilities including the only state-of-the-art Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (ADMS) in the country, and only one of two of this kind in North America. This highly advanced technology coupled with small class sizes, skilled professors and a fundamental approach to the mindset and support required to become a first responder, make Northern College grads amongst the very best and brightest in the province.

Grads from Northern enjoy a 100 per cent satisfaction rate amongst employers, which means that not only are our grads finding employment, but they’re also entering the working world with the specialized skills they need to succeed.

Northern’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree program consistently leads the province in both the quality of its training and the competency of our graduates who routinely eclipse expectations and pass their exams at some of the highest rates in the country.

Northern also offers graduate programs for those looking to add to their breadth of training, including the much-needed Emergency Management, Terrorism and Pandemic Response that has become increasingly important in a pandemic world.

Their Firefighting program is the only one in the province that has our burn building – where much of our training happens, right on campus with students going front of the line even before working professionals for using it to learn and train.  Unlike their competitors, they use real smoke when training our students, and change the inside layout of the building frequently, so that grads are ready for any and all situations when they enter the darkness of a real-life fire and have to find their way through it to rescue the people that need them.

All of this is offered with the healing backdrop of the beauty and boundless nature that surrounds each of our waterfront campuses at Northern, with close-knit, welcoming communities and the endless possibility for adventures so you can balance study with play.

If you’re looking for a well-rounded, student focused education, Northern has you covered.
