What better time to look ahead than the start of a brand new year.

In exciting news, Subaru will be releasing its first-ever electric SUV in 2023. The company partnered with Toyota on this endeavour and it’s the most technologically advanced Subaru they’ve ever made.

“It will be built using their first-ever all-electric architecture—the e-Subaru Global Platform,” says Lynn Renaud, General Sales Manager at Palladino Subaru.

The 2023 Subaru Solterra’s name combines the Latin words for “sun” and “earth”. It’s the first electric vehicle to feature the legendary standard capability of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. There will be three editions of the 2023 Solterra: premium, limited and touring.

It’s packed with several next-generation features. The Solterra offers a stunning 12.3-inch touchscreen, state-of-the-art active safety, plus the trusted reliability of a Subaru—all in a zero-emissions, all-electric SUV.

The 2023 Solterra takes its renowned all-weather, all-terrain traction system to exciting new places. Drivers will enjoy uniform stability, an optimal distribution of power for maximum traction and improved handling. Add in the smooth linear output provided by dual electric motors and you’ll have outstanding traction and capability on all kinds of road and trail surfaces in almost any weather condition.

You’ll be able to go places that traditional electric vehicles usually can’t reach. If you’re a fan of exploring rough terrain, the 2023 Solterra’s 8.3 inches of ground clearance and short overhangs allow for easy maneuverability. For enhanced stability and control, standard X-MODE with Hill Ascent and Descent lets you choose the perfect traction setting to match the trail conditions.

You’ll definitely need ample cargo space to be adventure ready. With up to 30 cubic feet—more than the Kia Niro EV—you can bring all the gear you need. The vehicle has a low load height, a rear gate opening that’s over 41 inches wide and an available Power Rear Gate to make loading your gear easy. Raised roof rails can take on larger cargo, extra gear, bikes and more.

The Solterra lets you adventure in comfort. Its spacious interior includes up to 126 cubic feet of passenger space, generous rear leg room and a flat floor. StarTex-trimmed upholstery is available, as well as high-quality, soft-touch materials throughout the cabin.

The Solterra features the latest breakthroughs in EV technology with StarDrive delivering on-demand torque at all speeds, which makes for an exciting driving experience. Further enhancements include paddle shifters, an extra-responsive sport mode and one-pedal driving, which uses the regenerative braking system to allow you to keep your foot on the throttle.

Standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology does it all: it monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control and alerts you when you have strayed outside your lane. The automatic Pre-Collision Braking feature can apply full braking force, bringing you to a complete stop in an emergency situation. Drivers will also appreciate the Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Change Assist; it takes some of the stress out of driving, helping with steering, braking and throttle control.

The 2023 Solterra also features a comprehensive suite of active safety features, including All-Around Awareness Technologies and a 360° Surround-View Camera System. The car comes equipped with Blind-Spot Detection, a Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Reverse Automatic Braking, as well as a Safety Exit Alert.

You’ll enjoy an estimated range of over 220 miles with Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and fast and convenient charging, both at home and on the road. The Solterra comes with a charger that works with any standard 120V outlet for Level 1 charging; for even faster charging you can have a 240V Level 2 charger installed. Either way, you’ll wake up each morning to a full battery.

On the road, you’ll have access to over 38,000 public charging stations across the country. With Level 2 or Level 3 DC fast-charge options, charging on the go is a breeze. The Solterra features DC fast-charge capability, which, when paired with an L3 charger restores 80% of your battery capacity in under an hour.

With the 2023 Solterra, you can explore the outdoors and help protect it at the same time. Thanks to the advanced StarDrive powertrain, there are no tailpipe emissions and there is no need for gasoline or oil changes. Every mile has significantly less impact on the environment.
