This month you can shop for furniture and home décor from one of your favourite local retailers and the purchases you make will not only make your home look great, they will support a very important cause.

Ashley HomeStore is participating in Pinktober again this year and is excited about the opportunity to give back to the community. All money raised supports the Northern Cancer Foundation.

Every donation made supports cancer care, local cancer research, and vital equipment purchases at the Shirley and Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre in Sudbury. These donations positively impact the lives of patients and their families all across Northeastern Ontario.

How it works

It couldn’t be easier for members of the community to participate and lend their support to these important local research efforts. Whenever a customer makes a purchase at Ashley HomeStore during the month of October, a portion of the sale is donated to the foundation.

In addition, there are 3 more ways you can help:

1 – VIP membership cards

$30 from each VIP membership card will be donated—and with every VIP donation, the customer will receive one ballot.

2 – Enter to win

Customers may also choose to donate $10, no purchase necessary. For every $10 donated, the customer will receive one ballot. Prizes include one of three $1,000 shopping sprees, a Nerviano recliner, or a Believe Kingsdown mattress.

3 – Purchasing a Believe mattress

For every Believe mattress sold, a $100 donation will be made!

The origins of Pinktober

October is breast cancer awareness month. The pink ribbon is the symbol of breast cancer awareness. Both the month and the ribbon serve as a reminder about the importance of preventative measures and early intervention: two things that can significantly increase the odds of surviving breast cancer.

The month is also used to remember those who are in the midst of, or who have lost, their fight against breast cancer. While funds are raised for breast cancer awareness year-round, Pinktober shines a light on it, allowing businesses and individuals to come together to raise funds and help find a cure.

Last year, this promotion raised an impressive $16,320 for the foundation.

“Here at Ashley, we are dedicated to helping advance cancer research, for those diagnosed with breast cancer and their loved ones,” says store manager Grant Carriere. “When you shop with us, you’re not just making a purchase, you’re making an impact. Every dollar that is raised helps to save a life.”
