LIVE: Trudeau expected to call on premiers to impose restrictions to curb spread of COVID-19

Trudeau is also anticipated to announce funding for provinces to spend on skills training

Prime MInister Justin trudeau will make an announcement at 11:30 a.m. today.

The prime minister is expected to continue to prod premiers towards more stringent measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.

It is also anticipated that Trudeau will announce hundreds of millions more for provinces to spend on skills training.

Trudeau will be joined by Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion Carla Qualtrough and President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc.

Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Theresa Tam and Deputy Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Howard Njoo will be in attendance.
