New wildfire ignited south of Sudbury

There is one other active fire in the northeast region, officials say

One new wildfire has been reported in the northeast region, the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry said in today's release.

  • Sudbury 29 fire is being held at 0.1 of a hectare. It is located northwest of Alban and west of Lac Brochet.

There is one other active fire in the northeast region, which was reported as being under control.

  • Timmins 11, a 4.6-hectare fire, was confirmed Thursday afternoon. It is located south of Timmins, three km east of Kenogamassi Lake and six km west of Latimer Lake.

The fire hazard is mostly high across the region, the ministry says.
