It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our Hero, Danny Rovinelli. He was surrounded and held by family, until his courageous battle against cancer came to an end. Danny fought with so much strength, dignity, and good humour, that we felt he would overcome this disease, despite the odds. With the help of a fabulous medical team, and treatment, Danny enjoyed life to the fullest for almost 3 years, while remaining happy and feeling well.

Beloved husband of Wendy (Brooks). Loving father of Brooke (Zack) Bondy, Ashley (Sumit) Makkar, and stepson Tom (Amanda) Markiewich. Cherished Nono of Karter and Kyan. Dear son of Derio and Edera (Manna) Rovinelli, predeceased. Dearest brother of Diane (John predeceased) Laban, and Reno Rovinelli. He will be sorely missed by brothers-in-law, Greg and Bob Brooks, as well as nieces Amy Rovinelli, Raven (Steven) Brooks, Cynthia (Jon) Goorts, nephews John (Jen) Laban, Michael (Nikita) Laban, Jesse (Rebecca) Brooks, and Jon Brooks. Danny will also be missed by grand nieces Mackenna, Avery, Hailey, and grand nephews Felix, Connor and Austin, as well as Zia Norma, and many cousins.

Danny was employed by The Sudbury General Hospital and Health Sciences North for a total of 40 years. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his co-workers, and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he would meet, served him well. After retiring, Danny would meet past co-workers for breakfast on a regular basis. Thanks to Tim for always setting this up and including Danny. He looked forward to the get-together and the company. Danny also volunteered his time as a driver for Red Cross, until covid interfered with that plan.

Danny devoted his love and time to his family, always encouraging us to do our best and never give up. He was well known for his hearty laugh, booming voice, and his excellent rendition of Santa’s “Ho ho ho, away we go”. We are all blessed that Danny walked Brooke down the aisle and enjoyed his father/daughter dance with Brooke.

We are thankful to friends, especially Ron, Fern, Don, Tim, and Conrad, who were always up to join Danny for coffee or breakfast. He was a real people person who loved to socialize. Danny was, and we are, extremely grateful to Dr. Ravi Singh and Nursing staff, Dr. Bonilla and Nursing staff, Dr. Pearce, Dr.‘s from RVH in Barrie, who were involved in Danny’s care, the Chemo Suite nurses and volunteers, especially Judy, 4 North staff, Emerg Dr.‘s, especially Dr. P. Koka, Dr. Primeau, and Nurses., Dr. Anawati and Dr. Brule, all for their exceptional care. Cory RN Bayshore, several PSW’s from Canadian Shield, especially Roxanne, Shanen, and Lynn, and Gianni from Home Instead, for their care, compassion, guidance and understanding, for all of us, throughout such an unimaginable journey. Danny personally thanked family and hospital staff individually, 2 days before he passed. Danny was grateful to each and everyone of you.

We also want to give our appreciation and thanks to the staff at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. You provided Danny and our family, a safe and peaceful place to enjoy priceless moments with him, and together, especially as he moved on from this life into the spirit world.
